As the new year kicked off E.U. leaders agreed to return to
the negotiating table in order to buy time for the Spain and Italy,
both of which are dealing with enormous debt. Euro-zone leaders
will make another attempt to prevent the 17-nation currency from
fragmenting as the mounting debt crisis spills over into
2012.
